Yes, its spring again here in the Northern Hemisphere. Blueberries should be maturing soon. The wilds will be filled with grapes and blackberry, thimbleberry, all the wonderful berries. Post your 2005 sitings here!
Since I'm back in the Bay Area at the moment, I may actually try to organize an actual outting at some point. Anyone interested in doing a Presidio pre-run in the upcoming weeks to map out the berry patches? Let me know if anyone wants to go scouting anywhere else...

Re: Berrytime!
Wed, July 27, 2005 - 10:13 PMI see that Chai is working on an event for this weekend--cool.
And speaking of cool, its been very cool here in Berkeley with lots of fog this summer. The blackberries seem to be a bit late in my folks backyard. Over in Fairfax, things seem to be a bit more on schedule. Any other reports on local berries?

Re: Berrytime!
Sun, July 1, 2007 - 11:19 AM2006 was not any better than 2005 in the SF Bay Area, from what I could "gather" blackberry-wise.
I hope we have a better summer this year (2007) for berries. If you have a bumper crop where you are, please let us know!
A few days ago, I did gather some wild berry of some sort that was like a flat capped raspberry--it was at Cowell park in the Santa Cruz mountains...I'll post a picture here if I can identify it--my identification books are out of reach at the moment. So, some berries are already going strong 'round here! -

Re: Berrytime!
Fri, August 3, 2007 - 12:03 PMHave you taken a walk in the Presideo recently? I was there last Sunday and this week should be the big berry week and go through the middle end of August!
Right now, in Berkeley, the blackberries are going like crazy! I just picked a bowl full from the back yard--this year is way, way better than the past two years I think...
